The Five Pillars of Harvel House
At Harvel House, sobriety is only the beginning. These pillars shape the culture of the house and the expectations for every resident.
I started Harvel House because I've seen what the right environment can do for a man in recovery — and I've seen what the wrong one can do too.
Too many sober living houses operate on a simple model: collect rent, enforce a curfew, and hope for the best. That's not recovery. That's warehousing. And the men who go through those places deserve better.
Harvel House was built with a different belief: that when you put the right structure, the right people, and the right expectations together — men don't just stay sober. They rebuild their lives.
The Five Pillars aren't a marketing framework. They're what I believe recovery actually requires. They're what we hold ourselves accountable to every single day at Harvel House.
If you're a family member wondering if this is the right place — I want you to know we take that trust seriously. Your loved one will be held to a high standard here. He'll be challenged. He'll be supported. And he'll be in an environment that actually gives him a chance.
— Nate Gunn , Founder
I grew up in Southern California but have called Utah home for years now — the mountains suit me a lot better. Outside of work, I stay active, love golf, and spend as much time outdoors as possible.
My passion for this work is personal. I’ve walked the road of addiction and recovery myself, and I know it’s not willpower that turns things around — it’s the right support, a sense of purpose, and people who genuinely care. That’s the foundation Harvel House is built on, and it’s what guides everything we do here.
